Taylorsville is
named for Virginia native Richard Taylor, who donated 60 acres of land in 1799
for a town at the forks of Brashears Creek and Salt River. Taylorsville became
the county seat of Spencer in 1824 and the downtown area is listed on the
National Register of Historic Places as a Historic District.
